RENO, Nev. – As the University of Nevada, Reno officially begins its yearlong sesquicentennial celebration, the institution will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for its new Business Building at the Mathewson Gateway Project site.
BUSINESS BUILDING: Located at the south end of campus, the 128,000 square-foot Business Building will provide a full range of spaces tailored to best practices in modern business education, including a 300-seat auditorium, advanced technology labs, case-method optimized teaching spaces, a café/social space, team meeting spaces and collaboration zones, faculty and administrative offices, a landscaped courtyard, outdoor plazas, and a mix of student and community outreach programs that foster entrepreneurship and innovation. The building is on schedule to be completed in the summer of 2025 and fully operational for the fall 2025 semester.
150TH ANNIVERSARY: On Oct. 12, 1874, the University of Nevada opened its doors to seven students in Elko, Nevada. This moment marked the beginnings of the state of Nevada’s original land grant university, situated on the traditional homelands of the Northern Paiute, Washoe, Western Shoshone and Southern Paiute peoples. From Oct. 12, 2023, to Oct. 12, 2024, the University will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a variety of ceremonial events throughout the year.
