Budding entrepreneurs in Brampton can get a leg up through a program aimed at booting start-ups in the city.

The city is launching another round of the Starter Company Plus Program to offer free training, mentoring and grant opportunities of up to $5,000 to start, expand or buy a small business in Brampton.

The program is being offered through the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre and is aimed at helping local entrepreneurs grow and expand their businesses with funding from the province. Over 175 businesses in Brampton have already received some $1 million in grants since 2014, according to the city.

The Program aims to address local economic development needs and, where appropriate, focuses on specific industries and sectors.

Eligible entrepreneurs will need to attend a virtual information session on Aug. 28 before applying to the program, and potential applicants can visit http://www.brampton.ca.
